Serving the temporal needs of the church since 1889
The Catholic Mutual Relief Society of America was founded by a group of Midwest Catholic Bishops on February 1, 1889. These bishops worked together to form a mutually protective organization which would help repair/rebuild damaged church properties.
Catholic Mutual provides relief to members that experience losses not covered by traditional insurance thus providing coverage that goes far beyond insurance.
From that modest foundation, Catholic Mutual has grown to be the largest provider of coverage to Catholic Dioceses in the United States. We operate in 49 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Canada.
