Our Lady of Calvary Retreat
Mission
Holy
Family Passionist Retreat Center is a spiritual center in
the Passionist tradition, open to all who seek to deepen their
relationship with God and one another. We welcome men and women
to weekend, day and evening retreats, and programs where they can
journey with God in an atmosphere of respect and hospitality. Consistent
with our tradition, we are a community that values spiritual development,
the holy word, creative ritual, and the sacred in our world.
About Our Ministry
The Passionist Community,
known as the Congregation of the Passion, was founded in eighteenth
century Italy by St. Paul of the Cross
for the purpose of keeping the memory of Christ's Passion alive.
St. Paul recognized that the Passion takes place every day in the
suffering of others - the tired, the poor, the hungry, and anyone
in need of God's love. The Passionists have been responsive to
the needs of their surrounding communities and have established
five retreat centers in the eastern United States to provide this
essential ministry. As the largest of these retreat centers, Holy
Family has been a pioneer in ministering to all levels of suffering
and welcoming people of all religions and faiths.
Holy Family was founded as a men's parish based retreat center and
has since expanded to include women, married couples, and those in
recovery. Most recently, Holy Family has initiated an exciting youth
ministry which offers day, evening, and weekend retreat experiences
for high school teenagers. Each year, over 5000 individuals from
Connecticut, Massachusetts and beyond come through the doors of Holy
Family to find spiritual fulfillment, renewed faith, and rediscovered
relationship with God. The ministry at Holy Family has inspired countless
individuals to actively pursue a more meaningful faith and a greater
sense of purpose in life.
