HARTFORD
(10-24-2008) - The Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell incardinated
three priests into the Archdiocese
in a
ceremony at the Chancery on October 24, 2008. By signing the "Decree
of Incardination," the Archbishop declared that the priests
are incardinated
"absolutely and permanently into the Archdiocese of Hartford."
The Catholic Encyclopedia explains that the words "excardination"
and "incardination" are used to denote that a given person
is freed from the jurisdiction of one bishop and is transferred
to that of another.
Reverend Zacarias Pushpanathan, ordained January
14, 1981, comes from the Diocese of Añatuya in Argentina.
Reverend Carlos Mario Zapata Sanchez, ordained December 3, 1988,
and Reverend Gustavo Lopez Castro, ordained May 6, 1990, are from
the Diocese of Quibdó in Colombia.
