Respect Life Conference draws overflowing crowd

(10-25-2008) - Holy Angels Parish, South Meriden, welcomed an overflowing crowd to its 2008 Respect Life Conference held at the parish on Saturday, October 25th. The Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell opened the day with remarks of encouragement for Catholics to witness to pro-life values in their daily lives. The Archbishop reviewed the many symbols of America's Christian roots present in our nation's capital, namely, in the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, the House of Representatives and the Capitol Rotunda. He stressed the need to hold fast to the original vision of our forefathers in upholding the inalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

The keynote speaker, Rev. Benedict Groeschel, CFR, drew long applause for his frank and spirited talk on the culture of life.
