HARTFORD
(11-15-2008) - Planners for the first Connecticut Catholic Men's
Conference expected to greet about 400 men at the Connecticut Convention
Center on Saturday, November 15th, based on registrations. To their
delight, 850 men poured into the conference hall to hear a host
of speakers share their insights on the role of men in the Church.
Featured speaker Danny Abramowicz, former NFL all-pro wide receiver
and coach, received thunderous applause for his talk on "spiritual
workout - how to get into spiritual shape." Guest speakers were
Sean Forrest, president of Movin' With the Spirit; Sean Wolfington,
co-owner of One Media Group and Metanoia Films; Father Larry Richards,
pastor of St. Joseph Church, Erie, Pennsylvania, and president
of The Reason for our Hope Foundation; Father Charles Sikorsky,
LC, President of the Institute for the Psychological Sciences,
a Catholic graduate school in Arlington, Virginia; and Bishop William
Lori, Bishop of Bridgeport.
The Eucharistic Liturgy celebrated by Archbishop
Henry J. Mansell, Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, Bishop Michael
Cote of Norwich, and Bishop Peter Rosazza of Hartford, concluded
the conference.
