Archbishop blesses Malta House of Care healthcare van for Waterbury

Malta House of Care - Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT (08-23-2010) - "Water and rain are symbols of God's blessings," commented Archbishop Henry J. Mansell as a light rain shower passed over Waterbury during the blessing of the new Malta House of Care healthcare van in the parking lot of Sacred Heart -Sagrado Corazon Church. The Archbishop continued by enumerating the many blessings that will come as the Malta House of Care begins to serve the uninsured of the Waterbury area. "Stories of blessings that have come from the first Malta House of Care in Hartford will multiply here in Waterbury," the Archbishop predicted. "This will make a difference in the lives of people. The tremendous renewal of life that this van represents goes back to who we are as a Church. We are people who are healers; we are called to be healers."

The Archbishop thanked Michael Culhane, Dr. Paul Kelly, Gregory Oneglia and Leslie Swiderski, members of the Board of Directors of the Malta House of Care-Waterbury, Inc. for their generosity and dedication in bringing the Malta House of Care project to fruition.

Mr. Michael Culhane, Chairman of the Board of Directors, thanked all donors and advisors involved in the project, highlighting the leadership of Archbishop Mansell: "Without the enthusiastic support of the Archbishop, this project would not have gotten off the ground."
